From the time of my diagnosis, through my treatment, and final scan on June 12th my goal was to be well enough to go on vacation with my husband on June 19th – for a 6 day National Model T Tour – and I DID IT!
We drove from Texas to Kanab, Utah – pulling our 1925 Model T Touring car on a trailer. The event started on Sunday, June 21st, with the first day of touring on Monday. We had five days of driving from Kanab to different locations, which included the North Rim of the Grand Canyon and Zion National Park. We had a great time, my thyroid replacement medicine is finally starting to work, so by the end of the trip I was actually starting to feel better.
As others have posted here, it is a great benefit to be able to get away from the doctors and such and just do something different. Mind you, riding in a stock Model T (with 196 other Model T’s) is not necessarily relaxing as you are sharing the road with “Modern Cars” that want to go 70 mph when we go 40 – and that’s on the flats and downhill. Uphill is about 20-25 mph, but the fact of being away was wonderful.
Thanks for all the support and posts, prayers to all.
